Resource Parent Corner!

Welcome to the Building Successful Families Program page! We are excited that you are here! You can WATCH trainings online, and take the attached quiz in order to get credit for the hours. We also have posted our calendars, so that you can see what trainings we have available. All trainings are available in English and in Spanish! Any and all parents are welcome to our training, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us! We hope that this is a useful tool for all of you. Please note that you will need an internet connection for the entire duration of watching this video, although you are more than welcome to start and stop watching the video, as needed! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us anytime!

Building Successful Families Team Members:

Eric Johnson, MS is the Building Successful Families Program Supervisor! Eric has more than 14 years experience working with adolescents, youth, and young adults, and has both personal and professional historical interactions with the Child Welfare and CPS system. Eric is passionate about helping support families, DSS team members, and children who are in care and from hard places. Eric's goal is to provide safe spaces and healing for children and families!

Jessica Leon is the Building Successful Families Program Administrative Specialist. Jessica is an engaging and positive influence around the office, and is the first line of contact that our families have! Jessica is excited about the possibility of providing support in a variety of settings and ways, and VMS recognizes that she is the glue that ensures that everyone gets to where they need to be.

Virginia Macedo, ASW, is an Associate Clinical Social Worker and a Building Successful Families Program Trainer. Virginia is bilingual in Spanish, and much of her experience has been working with families who have found language to be a barrier for them. Virginia is passionate about the Child Welfare system, and has more than 15 years experience working in the child welfare system, as a social worker, as well as as a therapist. Now, as a trainer, Virginia is excited to be able to touch as many lives as possible!

Sina Zuniga, MSW, is one of the Building Successful Families Program Trainer. Sina has more than 10 years experience working with children from hard places, and has worked as a County Social Worker with Merced and Madera County for many years. Sina's experience in the Child Welfare System has made her even more passionate about the importance of supporting Resource Families, to ensure that all families can be successful! 

Alejandra "Alex" Torres, MS, is also one of our Building Successful Families Program Trainers! Alex has significant experience working as a "business/life coach," anad has found those experiences to be positive influences in how she interacts with Resource Families, as well as with DSS department staff. Alex has found it particularly exciting to be able to connect with families and offer them her own perspective on how to be successful. Alex is passionate about empowering people and helping them to be successful!
