Kacie Simpson is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who privately contracts with VMS Family Counseling Services, specializing in individual therapy (with children, adolescents, and adults), couples counsing and family therapy.

Kacie's interest in psychology began her junior year of high school when she saw and experienced how cruel adolescents can be to each other, and also observed the struggle that families going through divorce experience. Her early therapeutic work experience was in substance abuse counseling, during which she ran groups for adolescents at middle schools, high schools, and continuation schools, as well as at private offices. From there, she transitioned to work with foster children and their families, and it was during this time that she found her love for behavioral work. She found that seeing the progress that children (and their families) can make through a combination of emotional support and behavioral modification was very rewarding. She spent some time working primarily in the school setting, focusing on increasing her knowledge of the school system, SST/504 Plan/IEP plan process, as well as special education in general.

She has worked in a variety of non profit settings, including working with children and families involved with the CPS system (including foster children, foster families, adoptive families, and adopted children). After passing her license exam in 2015, Kacie has focused on supporting families and children who have been victims of trauma, as well as children, adolescents, and adults who have struggled with attachment issues and substance abuse issues, as well as the negative impacts it has on a family system.

Kacie is passionate about helping children and families/parents succeed through the use of behavioral and family systems interventions. She believes that her faith in God has led her to where she is, and Kacie believes that God can be a powerful support in treatment.

Kacie is not currently taking new patients, but is hopeful to be able to start taking on new patients in the near future.

Alexandra (Ali) Moy Torres is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who privately contracts with VMS Counseling Services, specializing in individual therapy (with children, adolescents, and adults), couples counseling, and family therapy.

Ali’s passion for counseling started when she studied abroad in Costa Rica working with children in orphanages all over the country. This experience taught her the important role that a therapist can play in helping people reach their goals. Much of Ali’s early experience was in crisis work with children and adolescents. She provided immediate crisis assessments, crisis de-escalation, short term therapy, and family sessions. Ali gained invaluable experience working with people at the hardest point in their lives and helping them to find hope. Using clinically tested and evidence based interventions she transitioned to working with adults at Fresno County Mental Health. There she was able to integrate her education, experience, and knowledge of mental health issues to help her clients learn to problem solve, gain coping skills, overcome life’s obstacles and work towards positive life outcomes.

Ali works from a Cognitive Behavioral theoretical background while incorporating both person centered and humanistic approaches. She believes in helping people gain insight into the way their thoughts affect their feelings and behaviors. She also comes from a strength based approach and works with people to find past and present successes and use that experience to address current challenges. Ali specializes in helping people who are experiencing life transitions, mood disorders, healing from trauma, anxiety and depression, and people interested in achieving personal growth. Ali works easily with both adults and adolescents and is high skilled in working with individuals, couples and families.

Ali strives to offer a safe, caring, and compassionate environment where she can work with her clients to establish a healthy therapeutic relationship. She believes in meeting people where they are at and working collaboratively with them to help them reach their goals. She is a firm believer that by empowering people you can help them engage in the process of positive change.  Ali became a therapist to help people navigate life, reach their goals and find a life worth living.
